About the Viking 3 Series Range
The Viking 3 Series — also marketed as the D3 Series — is Viking’s entry-level professional range line. Despite being the most accessible model in the Viking lineup, these ranges use the same sealed burner architecture, stainless steel construction, and convection oven systems found across higher Viking product lines. That also means 3 Series gas and dual fuel ranges require technicians who are specifically familiar with Viking ignition systems, gas valve configurations, and electronic control boards.
We are an independent Viking appliance repair service. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or authorized by Viking Range, LLC.
Viking 3 Series Models We Service
The following models cover the core VGIC, VGSC, and VDSC families. If your model number is not listed, call us — we service all Viking D3 and 3 Series configurations.
VGIC Series — Gas Range (Open Burner)
- VGIC3304 (30”): 4-burner gas range. Common issues include igniter failure on the front-left burner and weak spark module output.
- VGIC3366 (36”): 6-burner gas range. Clicking issues and burner cap misalignment are frequent service calls.
VGSC Series — Gas Range (Sealed Burner)
- VGSC3304 (30”): Sealed burner 4-burner gas range. Oven igniter glowing without lighting is the most common oven complaint.
- VGSC3366 (36”): Sealed burner 6-burner gas range. Temperature sensor drift and gas valve wear are typical issues on older units.
VDSC Series — Dual Fuel Range
- VDSC3304 (30”): Gas cooktop with electric convection oven. Control board faults and bake element failures are common on dual fuel models.
- VDSC3366 (36”): Dual fuel 6-burner. Requires both gas and electrical system diagnosis — different from gas-only service calls.
Current D3 Lineup
- VGIC33004 / VGIC33006: Current production models with updated ignition and control systems.
Common Viking 3 Series Repairs We Handle
Typical Viking 3 Series range repair scenarios include:
- Burner clicks continuously after ignition — Usually a wet electrode, cracked burner cap, or spark module fault.
- Igniter glows but oven does not light — Weakened igniter no longer opening the gas valve. Most common oven repair on 3 Series.
- Oven temperature too hot or too cold — Temperature sensor drift, faulty probe, or control board calibration issue.
- F1, F3, F9 error codes on display — Almost always a control board fault or wiring issue on the oven control circuit.
- Weak or delayed ignition on one burner — Blocked burner ports, dirty electrode, or partially failed spark module.
- Gas smell near burner or oven cavity — Requires immediate shutdown and professional diagnosis of gas valve and supply connections. Do not use the range.
- Control board failure — Affects oven temperature, display, timer, and self-clean function.
- Broken knobs, hinge damage, or worn door gasket — Cosmetic and functional repairs completed on-site when parts are available.
Why Viking 3 Series Ranges Require Specific Experience
The 3 Series uses a different control board than the 5 and 7 Series — these boards are not interchangeable. Burner BTU output is typically 15,000 BTU compared to 18,500 BTU on the 5 and 7 Series, and the 4-burner ignition module has fewer outputs than 6-burner configurations. Using the wrong replacement part or diagnostic approach for a neighboring model can result in misdiagnosis. Our technicians work on Viking ranges specifically and are familiar with these distinctions.

FAQ
Viking 3 Series Range Repair — FAQ
How much does Viking 3 Series range repair cost?
The $149 diagnostic fee is applied toward the repair when you approve the work. Labor for minor repairs starts from $299. Final pricing depends on the specific model, serial number, failed components, parts availability, and accessibility. Parts, tax, and shipping are not included in labor pricing. A written estimate is provided after diagnosis and before any repair is started.
Why does my Viking 3 Series burner keep clicking?
Continuous clicking after ignition on a Viking 3 Series range is usually caused by a wet or dirty spark electrode, a misaligned or cracked burner cap, food debris under the cap, a failed ignition switch, or a faulty spark module. Start by cleaning around the burner and reseating the cap. If clicking continues, the ignition system needs diagnosis.
Why does my Viking 3 Series oven igniter glow but not light?
A glowing but non-igniting oven igniter is the most common oven failure on Viking 3 Series ranges. The igniter has weakened and no longer draws enough current to open the gas safety valve. Igniter replacement resolves this in most cases and is typically completed in a single visit.
Do you repair VGIC, VGSC, and VDSC models?
Yes. We service all Viking 3 Series gas and dual fuel range models including VGIC3304, VGIC3366, VGSC3304, VGSC3366, VDSC3304, VDSC3366, and the current D3 lineup (VGIC33004, VGIC33006). If you have the model number handy, mention it when booking — our technician can prepare accordingly.
Do you use OEM Viking parts for 3 Series repairs?
We use genuine Viking replacement parts when available and appropriate for the repair. Parts are sourced based on the specific model number and serial number. A written estimate including parts is provided after diagnosis and before repair begins.
Is it safe to use my range if I smell gas?
No. If you smell gas near your Viking range: turn off the appliance burners if it is safe to do so, do not operate any switches or create sparks, ventilate the area immediately by opening windows and doors, leave the area if the smell is strong, and contact your gas company or emergency services before scheduling appliance repair. Do not use the range until it has been inspected.
Do you offer same-day Viking 3 Series range repair?
Same-day service may be available depending on your location, the technician schedule, and parts availability. We recommend calling or booking early in the day. Our service area covers Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, West Hollywood, Brentwood, Bel Air, Malibu, Pacific Palisades, Culver City, Marina del Rey, Venice, Studio City, Sherman Oaks, Encino, Calabasas, Pasadena, Glendale, Burbank, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach.
Can a Viking ignition problem require multiple parts?
Yes. A Viking ignition problem may involve a spark electrode, spark module, ignition switch, wiring harness, burner cap, burner base, or gas valve — sometimes more than one component. Some ignition repairs are straightforward; others require multiple parts and additional labor. Final pricing is confirmed only after diagnosis.
Are parts included in the listed prices?
No. Listed prices are labor starting prices only. Parts, tax, shipping, and any additional components are not included. A full written estimate is provided after diagnosis and before repair is completed.
